Our History
Since Lightserve’s inception we have grown from our lighting maintenance roots to a leading provider of lighting and electrical solutions.
Growth has been achieved both organically and through acquisitions as the needs of our customers have evolved. Today Lightserve is comprised of 110+ employees and locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Ohio serving both regional customers and national accounts in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The future remains bright as Lightserve continues to grow and adapt the business to meet the dynamic needs of our expanding customer base and an ever-changing marketplace.
Starting out as a small lighting maintenance and retrofit contractor in Raleigh, NC, Lightserve has grown into a national “Full Service” supply, design, and installation provider to the commercial markets in the US and Canada, building on the rich history acquired with companies like Elite Lighting and Illumetek.

Lightserve Corporation founded
December 2013
Lightserve Corporation Acquired by Current Ownership
The ownership group was presented an opportunity to purchase a niche lighting maintenance company
April 2015
Acquisition of Lighting Energy Solutions (LES founded in 2010)
Diversification into lighting projects was needed for continued growth and to better support existing maintenance customers
May 2016
Acquisition of Elite Lighting (Elite Lighting founded in 1985)
Further diversification into distribution was achieved through the acquisition of Elite Lighting, allowing direct access to vendors for better pricing and improved margins
March 2017
Lightserve opens branch in Charlotte, NC
The acquisition of Elite Lighting afforded Lightserve the opportunity to open an additional branch in Charlotte, NC
January 2018
Acquisition of Maintenance X3 (Maintenance X3 founded in 2002)
The acquisition further diversified Lightserve’s lighting maintenance customer base with direct access to a regional bank
in the Southeast
December 2020
Acquisition of Illumetek Corp (Illumetek founded in 1993)
The acquisition of Illumetek created an industry leader in the lighting space with unique logistical and operational expertise and strong end-user relationships

Acquisition of Genesys Global (Genesys Global founded in 2013)
The acquisition of Genesys Global’s C&l division provides significant growth opportunities through continued diversification
